I started singing at the age of six in the St. Rose of Lima boys’ choir in Brooklyn NY and never stopped. After hearing a live Aerosmith album one day when I was about twelve, everything changed. I couldn’t believe the heart and soul and grit that I was hearing. I thought it was the greatest thing I had ever heard. It was around that time I began to play drums and create bands with all my friends and take my first whacks at writing original songs. With a million influences in my head, from classical and folk and rock and roll and blues, I approached song writing with a pretty open mind. I’ve always written on my acoustic guitar, even if it was a heavy rock anthem or a piece that I envisioned a full orchestra playing. That sound of a single guitar with a voice is definitely one of the most moving things in music. That’s probably what has brought me to where I am today.
Even at a young age I was fortunate to play with extremely talented, likeminded people. They’ve all influenced my life and my playing till this very day. The other great influences of my life are my job as a New York City firefighter for over thirty years, and raising a family. The life experience of all these things has culminated with a desire to bring my music, stripped down and raw to all of you.
